Frequently Asked Questions
Are all of your delicious baked goods gluten free?
Yes, there are ZERO gluten-containing ingredients present in the bakery or on our equipment. We also do not allow our staff to bring in or consume any gluten containing foods on premises.
Which gluten-free flours do you use?
We use a custom blend of rice-based flours. We also use certified Gluten Free Oat Flour in our oatmeal raisin cookies and vegan vanilla cake, as well as gluten free corn flour in our cornbread and corn muffins.
Do I need to place an order or can I just walk in?
We pride ourselves on bringing the traditional bakery experience to the gluten free community! We have a store full of fresh baked goods each morning to start the day and therefore you do not have to place an order!
With that said, you are always welcome and encouraged to place an order a day or two ahead of time. This will guarantee your items are set aside for you before you arrive!
Keep in mind that the bakers arrive very early in the morning to ensure all of the items are ready for our 7 a.m. opening. If you call the shop the day you are visiting, we will be happy to set aside items based on their availability at the time. While this can be a convenient option, it still presents the opportunity for us to sell out of the goodies you may be craving the most. Therefore, placing the order a day or two in advance is always the best option!
I have other common 8 allergens, are you an “Allergen-Free Bakery”?
While we limit the use of common 8 allergens in recipes where product taste and quality are not sacrificed, we are not a dedicated “allergen free” bakery. For further information, please copy and paste this link from our page: https://www.thehappymixer.com/allergen-statement-and-information/
How long do your treats stay fresh?
We recommend that you eat our products as soon as possible to ensure their texture and freshness are at their best! In the event your eyes were bigger than your appetite, please keep your treats in an air-tight container to help extend their shelf-life for a few days. Also, nearly all of goodies freeze very well, which can help extend their freshness up to 2 months.
May I place an order for a custom cake or wedding cake?
Yes, we would be honored to be a part of your special occasion! In most instances, we ask that you call to place the cake order at least 48 hours in advance.
In the event of a wedding, or any cake of spectacular magnitude, we recommend that you meet with our cake specialist to discuss all of the details to make sure it is everything you could imagine! You may call the Chalfont store at 267-663-7209 or Newtown 215-860-1989 to setup an appointment. This should be done about 1 to 3 months prior to the actual date of your event. We want to ensure we have everything we need to WOW your friends and family! Bringing in pictures of cakes you like from magazines or the internet is also very big help!
Why do custom cakes and drawings cost more than the regular cake menu prices?
We are always honored to help our customers celebrate life’s special moments with a truly custom cake! We have talented decorators who are eager to help you celebrate with the cake of your dreams!
With that said, custom cakes can take a considerable amount of additional time to create. This can add significant labor cost to the final product.
Custom cakes often require:
- Multiple phone calls and emails to iron out the details
- Time for the decorator to create specific icing colors to match custom designs
- Additional time for the decorator to draw characters, themes or designs
- Additional materials we may need to purchase
These varying factors can lead to custom cakes taking anywhere from an extra 30 minutes to several additional hours to create. This therefore requires us to adjust the pricing to cover the additional labor and materials costs.
An example we give when training our new employees is this:
You call a painting company, and they state it will be $500 to paint your child’s bedroom.
You then tell them you would like them to paint a Disney princess on the wall too.
The reality is the price is going to go up because it will take the painting company longer to complete the job. They will then adjust the price to cover the additional labor and materials.
It is very similar when creating custom cakes. Traditionally iced cakes typically take a certain amount of time and therefore have a base menu price. Custom cakes can vary greatly based upon the final design and therefore we need to adjust the pricing to cover the additional time and materials.
Do you ship your baked goods around the country?
Our goal has always been to bring back the old-fashioned bakery experience to the gluten free community! While we genuinely appreciate the interest in our goodies throughout the country, unfortunately we currently do not offer shipping as an option. We sincerely appreciate your interest in our goodies and we apologize for any inconvenience. Hopefully, we will see you in one of our bakery locations soon!

I would like an item made that is not on the menu, can you make it for me if I order it in advance?
Due to the high volume of items we bake fresh each morning, we unfortunately are unable to make non-menu items. This includes making different sized/shaped cookies or other goodies that may be in our product line. In an effort to ensure we produce consistently delicious baked goods, we are committed to having the proper procedures in place so our baking team can follow detailed instructions. Requests are always welcomed and we regularly roll out new items based upon those requested most frequently!
Do you use tree nuts and/or peanuts inside your bakery?
We regularly use PEANUT BUTTER in our bakery. We currently do not use or stock any tree nuts or nut based flours. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that any of our products have not come into contact with peanuts, as we use peanut butter in the facility/baking area daily. While we do our best to avoid any cross contact, we recommend you use your own discretion if you are allergic to nuts of any kind. Do you offer any Dairy Free Items?
We offer many dairy free options! Our sandwich bread, sandwich rolls, cinnamon raisin bread and baguettes are all dairy free! We also have delicious lemon pound cake which is dairy free! We recently added several VEGAN/Dairy/Egg/Soy Free options as well! We offer fresh baked vegan chocolate chip cookies, vegan mint or vegan peanut butter sandwich cookies, as well as vegan chocolate and vanilla cakes which are available by special order! Feel free to contact us by calling our store at 267-663-7209 if you have any questions regarding ingredient sensitivities.
We strive to deliver an old-fashioned authentic baked good without the gluten. We understand that some individuals are sensitive to dairy products, and therefore in addition to multiple diary free options, we have substituted rice milk for many recipes that might traditionally call for dairy milk. Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any questions about whether or not one of your favorites contains dairy.
I have a question, what’s the fastest way to get an answer?
Please call the location most convenient for you! We are open 7 days a week and our team will be happy to answer any questions you have. While you are welcome to email us, the fastest way to contact us is always to call!
